J. Cole officially announced yesterday that his sophomore album, Born Sinner, was pushed up to June 18th which is the same day that Kanye West is set to drop his new album as well. Billboard caught up with Cole to find out exactly why he made the bold move, check it out below.
“Instantly the lightbulb [turned on]… it got real. I made one phone call to somebody that would know, just to make sure first. As soon as I got it confirmed, I was like, ‘Yo…’ The idea hit me instantly: ‘You got to go to that date. I’m not going to sit [here]… I worked too hard to come a week later after Kanye West drops an amazing album. It’d be like, ‘Oh and J.Cole dropped too, a week later.’ Nah. I’m going to go see him on that date. He’s the greatest. So it’s like, I’m a competitor by nature so it was instant, it wasn’t even a thought.”
“It’s a definite statement about how I feel about my album, which is confident. At the same time, let’s not forget this is Kanye West. He bets 100, 1,000, whatever the perfect is. His track record is flawless. I’m only expecting an incredible album from him, But I know what I have.”
Yeezy Season is upon us. After years of waiting, Mr. West will be releasing his 6th studio album on June 18th.
RapUp has confirmed the release date, and also that the rumored Yeezus title is in fact the name of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy‘s followup. Kanye debuted a new track visually across the globe last night called “New Slaves“, and tonight you can catch him performing new music on the season finale of SNL. Tuck your whole Summer in.

Well, this was unexpected. Back in 2008, Birdman & Rick Ross recorded a collab album titled The H that for whatever reason never saw the light of day. They have now decided to take the unreleased album out of the vaults, and release the first volume of it on May 23rd for the fans. Check out the P.S.A. below.
